Animal Family Matching, Montessori Language At Home

Ava loves the animal tray for our Grammar Farm.  I printed beautiful farm animal nomenclature cards from Montessori for Everyone.  Ava is matching the animal figures to cards in these pictures.  I also printed a set of baby to parent farm animal cards from here, and another great set of animal family cards from Montessori MOMents. For now Ava is working on image matching so I actually have not cut the cards as yet when she's ready I'll cut the labels.

I had a pretty good match of figures for the cards but no "white" dog she took particular notice of this 💕

I separated out the animals to match the cards.
This is a fun activity to help develop vocabulary, memory, organization, and concentration.

She is having great fun with it!

  1. Really enjoyed getting an insight into this activity. Thank you.

Our small person is just about to be one and has suddenly taken a very specific interest in animal figurines and matching noises to figures when we're at other people's houses.

I wanted to get him a few farm animals of his own - but I want ones that we'll use for a long time (in activities like this as well as in his own play).

Would you recommend going for something which is 'correct' like the schliech figures or should I indulge my love of small wooden toys? I can't find any wooden ones that are quite as accurate and available in the UK.

    1. We have have an early wooden farm set that our kids love.
The animals she is using above were from our farm set that we purchased on amazon. This set was pretty inexpensive, but had such a huge collection of animals, people and farm objects, that I thought it would grow with them through all Grammar Farm activities. I think it depends on what you will be using it for. My though is that for lesson purposes it helps for them to look a little more realistic. Hope that helps:)
