About Us

About us...

In my former life I was a Program Coordinator for at risk children and families.
I am also crazy for sewing (have owned two small sewing businesses), crochet, crafting, baking, building, painting, gardening, and all things old and well loved!

I have been married for 20 yrs to an amazing man who has a great love of life, and is very passionate for many things . He is a Wood Turning, builder and creator extraordinaire, and Software Engineer.

We moved to the country to restore a century home together. Were living and loving life and starting to think of having children, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 30.
Chemotherapy, surgery, survival! I was given a slim to none chance of conceiving given the harsh chemo but…

We were blessed with a baby boy, and again with a baby girl!

I made the decision to stay home with our children.

Our newest family challenge and most difficult by far, was/is Ava's diagnosis with Urea Cycle Disorder.

About Making Montessori Ours...

MMO was created with the help of my husband to document our children, and our journey in home learning/unschooling while making Montessori ours. Montessori was such a natural fantastic fit for our family. I write and share photos about some of our adventures and passions, as well links and great resources that we come across along the way.

Our life is filled with challenges as are most, but I have chosen to write about the beauty of this experience, and the incredible way it is changing and shaping our lives everyday.
I am in love with my husband, children and the life we have created!

We spend a great deal of time researching all of the materials and resources that we use and believe in. It is extremely important to us that our children have quality materials tailored to suit their specific needs and interests.

We love to spread the word about great educational products, books, and printables because we feel it is important and beneficial for all to do so in the home school and education community as a whole.
We are also grateful that the Montessori community for the most part is supportive of home schoolers, and have made great effort to ensure Montessori materials, manuals and video instruction are completely accessible to benefit families and children globally.

We are deeply grateful to those who have passed along, shared, and created valuable resources to/with us.

Making Montessori Ours has been a wonderful journey that has grown with our family.
You could certainly call us "The Unschooling Montessorians" 💕

  1. Hello! Do you have a blog archive? I can't find it anywhere. I also have a big boy and a little little girl and i would like to see how you started with them when they were smaller. My boy is 2.5 years old and I don't know where to start, he doesn't seem interested in anything but outdoor playing for the moment :) Thank you!

    1. Thank you for writing and you are right!!! I could not find our archive? It is up now, and I will post soon about all of the types of things we did when the kids were young. Honestly then... for your son that appears to be the perfect place to start :)

  2. :) Thank you... yes, maybe you are right, I want to teach him too much too early about this wonderful world we are living in but I think he enjoys it very much in his own perfect way already. Thank you again.

I greatly appreciate your friendly comments and feedback. I love to see what others are making, so please feel free to include a links and share your site with us!!! If you have any questions regarding any of the materials we have made...I'd love to help!!! Thank you for visiting us:)
